ABC Brisbane and the lighter side of the radio ratings

After this week, all across Australia, many radio people and networks are going to need a bex and a good lie down. Tuesday was GfK Radio 360 Survey 4, Kyle and Jackie O‘s first full one on breakfast in Melbourne and Marty Sheargold’s last. Wednesday was Canberra’s turn with the ABC and ABC Classic having a *ahem* classic result. Thursday we went up north to Mackay and the Whitsundays, not for R&R but to see ARN‘s shining Star 101.1 rise above the rest. Don’t think I didn’t notice that in the celebratory picture Star shared they are all wearing T-shirts while I sit here and type with 17.6 layers.

Darn you and your warm weather Star 101.9. Congrats on the ratings though

Every radio, television and now even podcast survey is good for someone and less so for others. It hurts when you’ve worked really hard to see a number drop. We get that.

Since social media arrived to rule our lives there have been certain organisations of a serious nature, like the police, who from time to time use it to poke fun at their Blues counterparts during state of origin, or just to show their communities that they’re real people too.

This morning as I drank my coffee in bed I saw I comment from ABC Radio Brisbane (their breakfast hosts Craig Zonca and Loretta Ryan pictured. This is why they’re holding doilies) on a social post about Survey 4 by the Courier Mail. It was so good I had to share it.

This is the post:

And this was the response. I’m still laughing!

Note that KIIS 97.3‘s Robin and Kip, who were pictured, acknowledged the dig with humour too.

Sometimes you’ve got to laugh on the not so good days and move on. I’m going to take a leaf out of ABC Brisbane’s book and do exactly that. Have a great weekend everyone.
