AFTRS Students on air on NEXT FM

Commercial Radio students from the Australian Film Television and Radio School have built their own radio station from scratch and will be broadcasting live to Sydney on 100.7FM. They’ve been streaming online at www.nextfm.com.au since Saturday (18th September).

Next FM is the final challenge for the students before they graduate in November. The student team behind the broadcast will take a unique and upbeat approach to create maximum interactivity with their audience, targeting males and females aged 12 – 21 years old from Greater Western Sydney.

AFTRS Director of Radio Mark Collier says:

“NEXT FM showcases the talent and the skills our students have learned over the course of the year. It is a fantastic opportunity to be the first to hear Australia’s future radio stars. The students have done a fantastic job at building the station and they should all be really proud! We extend an invitation to everyone to tune in!”

AFTRS Commercial Radio students have been working towards this major challenge all year. It presents an opportunity for them to display their high-level skills in on-air presenting, content creation and programming in the multi-platform media environment.

Student Mathew Car, originally from Perth, has told radioinfo: “I’m on the very first breaky shift ‘Bacon n’ Next’… We have a fun, light hearted segment-Stress Management which has been designed to give the listener a laugh about managing stress in an interesting way to deal with! I am really looking forward to it!  It’s going to be fun, we get to come up with quirky stress remedies.”

Tullia Connor, Promotions Manager for NEXT FM is originally from Coffs Harbour. She has told radioinfo: “I’m super pumped to see what 30 second auditions will come in for our major promotion the NEXT FACTOR… auditions are already up on the website www.nextfm.com.au, check them out!  We have stars among the group.”
