Jones rushed back from holidays to cover Queensland elections.
The first indication of how the newly enhanced talent pool brought on by the merger of Fairfax and MRN could be utilsed is the news that 2GB’s Alan Jones will be heard on 4BC Brisbane from next Monday.
Jones will be presenting a special one hour program between 8:00 and 9:00am for two weeks leading up to the Queensland election on January 31.
Theplan is for Jones to complement the extended election coverage heard on 4BC Mornings with Patrick Condren. The Alan Jones show on 4BC will combine Jones’ own political commentary, interviews and talkback with the 4BC audience.
“The Queensland election is shaping up to be a state of the nation issue with implications for the Abbott government, as well as Premier Campbell Newman,” Fairfax Radio Network National Content Director Clark Forbes said.
“It’s fantastic to have such an experienced and skilled broadcaster as Alan Jones on 4BC for his expert commentary on what is likely to be one of the most intriguing and dramatic political battles of the year.”
4BC General Manager Anthony Frangi said, “Alan is a familiar voice on 4BC and we look forward to having him back on air for this special two week program. The combination of Alan Jones, followed by Patrick Condren will make for some powerful radio throughout this election campaign.”
