ABC Classic’s Classic 100: Feed Good has count down to No 1 with Beethoven’s Ode to Joy voted the favourite. Gustav Holst’s The Planets, Op. 32 and Georges Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers’ Duet were second and third respectively.

This is the 23rd Classic 100 Countdown, over many different versions, and amazingly the fourth time that Ode to Joy has been No 1. It was No 1 in the 2020 countdown of Beethoven and No 2 the following year of Music You Can’t Live Without. This year had more than 120K votes for nearly 900 different works including 14 Australian composers who made the Classic 100. The full countdown is here.

There will also be a special performance of the best of this year’s Classic 100, performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Hosted by ABC Classic’s Megan Burslem and Jeremy Fernandez and conducted by Principal Conductor in Residence Benjamin Northey, the Classic 100 in Concert will premiere on Saturday, 29 June at 7:30pm, on ABC TV, live streamed on ABC iview and simulcast on ABC Classic.
