Call out to participate in community radio’s second census

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) have put the call out for participants in their second ever Community Radio Census. Information gathered on community radio volunteer and staff numbers in the sectors helps the CBAA keep members at the centre of what they do, as well as better advocate for them to the Government and other organisations. The first census was held in 2022.

Everyone, that’s all community radio volunteers and workers, are encouraged to complete the census, whether you are paid or unpaid, at the front desk, in the studio or fixing the transmitter, contributing a couple of hours a week or working full time hours.

The last census helped to:

  • Understand the sheer number and diversity of community radio workers and volunteers – all 18,000 of you!
  • Advocate for stations with Government, including a $27 million increase in funding
  • Understand why people work in community radio

Participants go into the draw to win one of three $100 gift vouchers and will contribute to one of the most important projects in Australian community broadcasting.
You can complete the census up until early April. The competition closes March 16. Census and competition terms and conditions: https://www.cbaa.org.au/news/cbaa-comms/2026/02/08/we-need-your-station-for-the-community-radio-censu

It should only take 10 minutes to complete. Stations are asked to circulate the census among staff and volunteers.
