Lismore flood claims Community Broadcaster and Country Singer

Lismore based country artist and broadcaster, Marge Graham, has died at 82 – a victim of the devastating floods in northern NSW.

She was a presenter on her local radio station River FM92.9 hosting her own program Country Breakfast and was involved in radio for over 40 years.

CBAA CEO Jon Bisset has paid tribute to Marge, telling radioinfo:

“The CBAA is devastated to hear about the loss of River FM presenter, Marge Graham, in the Lismore floods. Our passionate volunteers are what make community broadcasting such a vibrant community asset.

“Marge was a lover of country music – using her knowledge as a singer-songwriter to present her Country Breakfast program. This passion extended to her other community work – including running events, and volunteering at festivals, concerts, nursing homes and local fundraising events. We extend our condolences to the River FM and Lismore community at this time.”

We are heartbroken at the news that singer-songwriter, Lismore resident Marge Graham is one of two women who lost their lives in the Lismore floods.
Marge was a huge country music supporter, and organiser of events in and for her community as well as at the annual Tamworth CMF. She volunteered at festivals, concerts, nursing homes and fundraising events for worthy local projects.
She was a presenter on her local radio station River FM92.9 hosting her own program Country Breakfast and was involved in radio for over 40 years.
In 2007 Marge undertook a 24 hour broadcast on Saturday April 21 to raise money for charity completely solo. She was celebrating her 30th year on the air.
She was a voluntary coordinator of the Cedars Guitar CMF in Lismore and surrounding areas for 40 years.
In 2019 Marge received the Tamworth Peel Valley Lions Club Inc Country Music Community Service Award for her exemplary service to the community through her association with country music. She donated the $500 that she received to her local Riding for the Disabled branch.
