David Greenwood new GM of River-FM 94.9

David Greenwood has been appointed General Manager of River 949 in south east Queensland.

Star Broadcasting chief, Graham McVean, says Greenwood is returning to his radio home after almost 30 years, having expanded his career within the broadcast media, advertising/promotions and international marketing.

“We are delighted to welcome David to River 949. We recently adjusted our music format to include a better mix of music from the past three decades to better serve the needs of our diverse listening audience in the Greater South Western corridor. We listened to what our listeners and advertisers had to say and responded appropriately.

“David was 4IP’s breakfast host in the late ’70s, rating #1 for more than seven years. After achieving successes as General Manager of 4GR Toowoomba, 4BK, 2UE and 2 Day FM, David, most recently, was Sales Manager of 4KQ and was involved in setting up 97.3 FM in Brisbane.”

Greenwood says coming back to Ipswich – to be involved in River 949 – is a challenging opportunity: “I am particularly impressed with the owners’ commitment to a consultative approach via listeners and advertisers, and River FM’s fresh enthusiasm. It gives River 949 the unique opportunity to be embraced by its listeners within its vast coverage area.

“I am drawn to River 949 by its earnest desire to be an ‘entertainment medium’, and to be respected and embraced by advertisers and listeners. Above all, to work with ‘incredible team enthusiasm’ to help build a radio station, which serves as ‘a real life’ example of what can be achieved when everyone works together and enjoys the adrenalin of success.

“I feel I bring to the station an array of broadcasting, real life and allied skills and have a total commitment to ‘the team’ process. I am humbled by the faith placed by the Board and the directors in my appointment.”
