Double J celebrates ’50 Gigs You Should Have Been At’

Double J has just published a list of 50 Gigs You Should Have Been Atthe live shows that got everyone talking, that went down in folklore, that everyone wishes they’d attended.

All September they are starting a conversation about amazing live music moments on Mornings with Zan Rowe and Arvos with Tim Shiel.

Double J will also be celebrating landmark live music moments from ABC Archives, with live recordings in the regular music schedule as well as the chance to relive once-in-a-lifetime gigs from Yothu Yindi, Jeff Buckley, Peaches and Beastie Boys for Live at the Wireless on Double J.

On Friday 9 September they will broadcast A Day at the Beach – Wanda 1982, Gab Burke’s brilliant documentary for ABC RN about the time Midnight Oil headlined an unforgettable free outdoor concert in Sydney’s south.

Meanwhile, their music history program and podcast The J Files will be taking a closer look at artists who have built a formidable reputation for live performance, including You Am I, Gillian Welch, David Bowie and Eddy Current Suppression Ring.

The 50 Gigs You Should Have Been At will join other countdown and music memory lists, following on from last year’s 50 Best Debut Singles, and previous lists including the 50 Best Australian Debut Albums50 Best Australian Albums of the 90s, the 50 Most Memorable Movie Soundtracks, the 50 Most Important Female Artists of the 90s, and the yearly 50 Best Albums Lists
