From Pillar to Post – CBAA takes issues to and from the people shaping them

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) have launched From Pillar to Post, a podcast that takes issues to and from the people shaping them: listeners, politicians and community media practitioners. The first episode unpacks Australia’s News Media Bargaining Code and what it means for community media.

One in four Australians, including sixty per cent of Gen Z, primarily source their news through social media. Four years ago, Australia introduced the world’s first news bargaining code, requiring digital platforms to support Australian news content. More recently, the code evolved into an incentive system. CBAA Political Reporter and podcast host Noah Secomb investigates where non mainstream, community and alternative media stands in this shifting environment.

Each From Pillar to Post episode is around 15 minutes long and  invites listeners to explore topical issues such as these. Guests include The Hon Michelle Rowland MP, incumbent Minister for Communications, Lee O’Connor, owner/editor of the Coonamble Times, Mark Phillips, publisher/editor of the Brunswick Voice and Claire Stuchbery, Executive Director of the Local & Independent News Association (LINA).

The first episode is available now on all major podcast platforms, including Omny and the Community Radio Plus app.
