Grundig Trio Touch receives Good Design recognition

The Grundig Trio Touch has been recognised for Good Design at the 2011 Australian International Design Awards. The device was among 232 finalists to be judged on design excellence and innovation.

“We are extremely proud to be a part of this year’s Good Design award scheme. This recognition highlights the hard work and innovative that has gone into developing this product within our Australian and UK design teams,” says Bush Australia, Sales Director Brian Rodgers.

The Grundig Trio Touch Micro System provides a wide range of music sources. These include DAB+, FM or Internet Radio, Last.fm (an online music service), iPod/iPhone full functionality (with a video out connection to watch iPod/iPhone videos on a television), and the ability to stream music from a PC or Mac.

The Design Award description says: The innovative Grundig TRIO TOUCH Micro System signifies innovation, technology and style. It encompasses beautiful joint Australian & European design with advanced technology, to make the listening experience magical.

Reviews of the Trio Touch are generally positive. Reviewers included that the device’s 3.5-inch touchscreen allowed optimal space for information to be displayed from digital radio stations.

The touchscreen interface is regarded as intuitive, but some commented that using the onscreen keys was difficult due to their small size.  Notably, some reviewers were unimpressed by the low sensitivity of the DAB+ tuner.

On sound quality, reviewers found that the speakers had impressive bass response and low distortion levels.
