I didn’t quit: Jackie O contradicts ARN’s stock exchange statement

In another twist on the Kyle and Jackie O saga, Jackie O Henderson has just issued a statement to address what she says is the ‘misinformation’ surrounding her departure from the KIIS Network’s Kyle & Jackie O Show.

In a statement released this afternoon Jackie said she is ‘heartbroken’ by the way her exit  has played out.

“I am deeply saddened by the events of the past week and the possibility of the show ending. This has come as a shock to me, as it has to everyone else.

“Over the past few days, there has been a lot of speculation and misinformation about my departure from the show. I want to make one important point very clear: I did not quit or resign.

“The current media narrative does not reflect what actually occurred, and it has been truly heartbreaking to see how this has unfolded. At this stage, I am unable to say anything further, as I am addressing this through the appropriate legal channels.”

Legal action is now in progress.

The comments are at odds with the notion that Henderson elected to terminate her multi-million dollar contract with ARN, contradicting the stock exchange release earlier this week that said:

“Ms Jacqueline Henderson has given notice that she ‘cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands.’ Accordingly, ARN has terminated the services agreement with Henderson Media Pty Ltd, under which Ms Henderson presents the Kyle and Jackie O show. Ms Henderson will cease to present the Kyle and Jackie O show.”

An ARN spokesperson has told radioinfo that the company has “no further comment” and referred us to the previous stock exchange statement.

Jackie’s statement was released late on Friday, shortly before the stock exchange was due to close for the week. ARN is unlikely to be able to comment before Monday when the ASX opens, given its obligation to keep the market informed of material changes to the publicly listed business.

The matter will now come down to whether,  when Jackie said she “cannot work with Kyle” any more, that was grounds for contract termination, or whether it was just a statement in an HR conversation about the dynamic between the two personalities.
