Award winning journalist Kallee Buchanan is the new host of ABC Rural Radio’s Qld Country Hour. She has been with the ABC for 15 years, most recently as a senior rural reporter.

Buchanan said on LinkedIn:

“I’m grateful for the extraordinary apprenticeship I’ve served so far in the ABC Rural Qld team, and the brilliant mentors and storytellers that have all contributed to me being here.

Not only am I’m blessed to work with a cracking team of dedicated specialist reporters, I have the privilege of telling the stories of rural people and industries in their own voices to the world.

It’s an honour to continue the legacy of the nation’s longest running radio program and I am humbled to be a part of it.

As we head into our 80th year on air (2025) I hope you’ll tune in to explore for yourself just what it takes to put food on plates across Qld and the world.”

Buchanan takes over from Arlie Fenton-Taylor and Amy Phillips.
