‘Marls’ returns to the airwaves on Hobart FM

More than a year after he hung up the headphones, a very familiar Hobart radio personality has returned to the airwaves.

Brett ‘Marls’ Marley – who last year completed 45 years on commercial radio with both 7HO and the SCA stable of stations – has now popped up Hobart FM.

The community FM station is one of the city’s oldest, having been in operation since the mid seventies.

Marls says he’s loving being able to play Baby Boomer music to the audience which is predominantly over 50, whilst also delivering some music trivia and local info along the way.

“It’s really something I’ve missed doing. I started off with this kind of format many many years ago and have always enjoyed it.”

Right now, Marls is doing some overnight shifts but says he’s up for any shift during the day.

“The listener feedback has been so encouraging,” he says.

“To be honest when I pulled the pin, it was meant to be for good. But if radio is in your blood … then it is.”

Hobart FM broadcasts on 92.1 and 96.1 DAB and Online
