Media Heads commemorates 50 years since Aussie involvement ended in Vietnam War with a radio series

January 11 marked 50 years since the 1973 proclamation of the end of Australian involvement in the Vietnam War, a war in which almost 60,000 Australians served.

On Friday August 18, traditionally a day recognised as Vietnam Veteran’s Day, Australia will mark that anniversary with a National Commemorative Service held in Canberra.

The 53rd Commemoration of the Battle of Long Tan and Vietnam Veterans’ Day held at the Vietnam Memorial in Canberra.

August 18 is also the 57th anniversary of the infamous Battle of Long Tan where 18 Australians were killed and 24 wounded. All but one of the dead were from D Company.

There’s never been a more appropriate time to publicly honour and say ‘thank you’ to all those who served and those who never made it home.

In recognition of this historic event, Media Heads has produced a free stand-alone radio series that shares human stories from those involved in this conflict. The series features 21 ninety second segments, giving an opportunity for Australians to commemorate this significant anniversary in this country’s military history while many of the veterans who served there are still alive.

The exclusive material in this series was drawn from Media Heads’ vast collection of one-on-one interviews, something the company has specialised in for more than 30 years.
