ARN has appointed Mike Harvey as General Manager of 1029 Hot Tomato on the Gold Coast. Mike is currently General Manager of ARN’s Darwin stations and will start on the coast on June 2 2025.
Mike radio career began in 1991 as a sales executive with Coast Rock FM on the Central Coast of NSW before a move to Papua New Guinea in 1995 with Channel 9. When he returned to Australia a decade later Mike held various sales and general management roles in Canberra, the Gold Coast, and Cairns before the Darwin role where he’s led for a further decade.
Michael Harvey, a different one, ARN’s Chief Operating Officer – Regional, said:
“Mike has been instrumental in shaping ARN’s success in Darwin, leading Hot100.1 and Mix 104.9 to an outstanding 79% audience share in the most recent survey. His leadership has been exceptional, from driving market growth to overseeing the move into state-of-the-art facilities. With his deep industry experience and proven ability to build winning teams, he is the perfect choice to lead 1029 Hot Tomato into its next chapter as the Gold Coast’s #1 station.”
Mike Harvey, the incoming Hot Tomato GM, added:
“I’m thrilled to be joining the incredible team at 1029 Hot Tomato. The station has built an enviable reputation as the Gold Coast’s #1 choice for entertainment, music, and local connection. It’s an exciting time to step into this role, and I look forward to working alongside the team to build on Hot Tomato’s success and continue delivering outstanding results for our listeners and clients.”
Hot Tomato has been on top on the Gold Coast for 14 consecutive surveys and, last year, achieved #1 ratings across all dayparts. They also picked up four awards, including Station of the Year (Non-Metro) at the 2024 ACRAs.
Hot Tomato has been without a GM since they transitioned to ARN’s metro structure in July 2022. With then GM Graham Miles being made redundant in the process he took up the Group General Manager‘s role with the Super Radio Network from Tweed Heads.
ARN will now commence a recruitment process to fill Mike’s General Manager position in Darwin.
