Mix 104.9’s Top End Guitar raises $10K for charity

Last weekend the Top End guitar, a great idea initiated by the team at Mix 104.9FM a year ago using a gifted Troy Cassar-Daley guitar as a canvas for 29 signatures of Australian musical artists, went up for auction at the Darwin Humpty Dumpty Gala Ball to raise money for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and much needed equipment in Northern Territory hospitals and clinics.
It sold for $10,000 and was one of the top money makers of the night. Total funds raised on the night were $1.2M for Humpty, breaking records as the largest charity ball the NT has ever hosted.
Mix 104.9’s Dan Hilliard (pictured with his breakfast co-host Leisha Brodyk) said:
“After a year worth of work, favours, promises, failures, re-attempts and 100s of emails and phone calls, we managed to put together a unique item that is a snapshot of Australian Music right now and spanning 45 years. In trying to value the guitar, we found that most signed guitars only sold for $2000, but they only had 1-4 signatures, the Top End Guitar has 29!”
