Nova Converts Latham to ‘Bling-Bling’

Perth’s Nova 93.7 FM has pulled off a coup in an interview with Federal Opposition Leader, Mark Latham, who has promised the young people of Australia more “bling-bling”.

Mr Latham has made the pledge during a light hearted interview in which he has been schooled on how to appear “cooler” than Prime Minister John Howard.

The Labor leader has been given a T-shirt, emblazoned with a new moniker, ‘Lath-Daddy’, a pimp style cap with a feather in it and a hip-hop theme song: ‘Lath-Daddy’s in the house. Which house? The Lower House’.

Mr Latham has made an on air pledge: “youth of Australia, Labor’s policy is bling-bling. Bling-bling for everyone. We’re going to take it all the way to Lodge.”

He was told that to win over youthful voters, he needs to talk the talk, using phrases like ‘bling-bling’ – an American hip-hop term, referring to flashy jewellery.

Mr Latham has succeeded in getting the message across because, soon afterwards, a listener rang Nova to say he had won her vote.

The Opposition Leader has told listeners: “bling-bling is the best policy I have had so far.” He also demonstrated his “coolness” by correctly identifying singer, Pete Murray, as cooler than Anne Murray.

Mr Latham has also suggested Treasurer, Peter Costello, is in need of an extreme makeover from the cast of ‘Queer Eye For The Straight Guy’, but says although Mr Howard’s eyebrows are enormous, they aren’t long enough yet for a comb-over!
