River 94.9 gets behind the wheel for Road Safety Week

Following a number of serious accidents around south east Queensland recently, River 94.9 will be raising as much awareness as possible during Queensland Road Safety Week from 26 to 30 August.

It’s been over 20 years since River 94.9’s Breakfast Show crew took their driving licence tests, so they’re set to get back behind the wheel and take their driving tests all over again.

On Monday 26 August, to kick off Road Safety Week, Marnie, Campo and their Show Producer Hinksy, will each get in the driver’s seat and go through basic road rules and manoeuvres including three-point turns, reverse parking, roundabouts, etc.

Each driving test will be recorded, and the videos will go up on River 94.9’s Facebook with listeners challenged to point out any mistakes that the crew make.

River 94.9’s Program Director, Drew Chapman, says “We report traffic updates 7 days a week and with that comes having to share incidents on our roads that could easily be avoided. If we can further promote Road Safety Week in a way that makes people think a little bit harder while they’re behind the wheel, and how their actions can affect others, that is the best thing that can come from this”.
