After being appointed to the Board in October, Despina Priala and George Caralis, the joint owners and managing directors of the Super Radio Network (SRN) have now taken control of Coastal Broadcasters Pty Ltd after the recent resignation of the existing majority board of directors. This completes the transition of Coastal to the SRN umbrella, taking their tally from 42 to 47 commercial radio stations across Australia.
As Principal shareholders, Despina and George control 76.6% shares in Coastal Broadcasters Pty Ltd and its 5 radio stations based in Innisfail and Mareeba, and the enormous listener reach in Far North Queensland, stretching north of Cairns, south of Townsville and the Great Barrier Reef, and west to the Gulf.
The stations now part of the Super Radio Network are:
• KOOL FM Nth
• 88.8 KIK FM
• 4KZ
• 4AY
• 4AM
Despina and George thanked the previous directors for their service this year, in particular Renton Kelly, the previous chairman and a friend of their late father Bill Caralis.
There are further plans for 2025 to bring Coastal in line with the SRN, a new web presence on the way and an announcement to be made about the successor to John Laws on 2SM with Ron Wilson leaving smooth FM to host Breakfast. Despina, George and Group General Manager Graham Miles show no signs of slowing down toward Christmas.
