triple j Hottest 100 voting closes Sunday

Closing time for voting in triple j’s Hottest 100 is approaching with the cutoff being midnight on Sunday 18th January.

triple j aims to beat the record breaking 1.49 million votes that were submitted in 2014 with the poll this year, cementing its place as the world’s largest musical democracy.

Voting puts listeners in the running to win the Golden Ticket, a double pass to every triple j supported gig of 2015 including the major festivals like Laneway, Splendour in the Grass and Falls.

As remembering the year in music can be difficult, inspiration can be found on the triple j website by seeing the votes made by artists and presenters.

The countdown will air in full on Australia Day.

Like most stations, triple j has powered back into action this week, the first week of ratings, with preparation for the Hot 100 not the only action in the station.

All this week, new drive presenters Veronica & Lewis are doing stacks of interviews with artists like Joey Bada$$, Mark Ronson, The Presets and Tkay Maidza. Plus they’ll be giving away flights, accommodation and the last two tickets to the Beat The Drum concert. At 3pm Fri 16 Jan Veronica & Lewis will take listeners behind the scenes at Beat The Drum, where they will hear interviews, reviews and live music across the day.

The station also welcomes back regular weekday presenters Matt & Alex, Zan Rowe, Lewi McKirdy, Linda Marigliano and Dom Alessio, as well as Kyran Wheatley on Weekend Breakfast.

Plus there are a couple of fresh new voices – Gemma Pike on Weekend Lunch and Stacy Gougoulis on Weekend Arvos. triple j has also introduced a new daily live Music News bulletin presented by Al Newstead at 12.30pm every weekday.

Hack with Tom Tilley will return on Tues 27 Jan, John Safran will return on Sun 1 Feb and Tim Shiel’s show Something More will begin on triple j on Sun 1 Feb.
