Vale Tony James

David Rogerson posted this obituary in the Radio Green Room

He fought a good fight but last night Tony James was called to the radio studio in the sky. I had the pleasure of being part of Tony’s initial start in several small town radio stations all the way to him achieving on air roles in Sydney.

His long time battle to kick cancer to the curb was well fought. Deb and I managed to see Tony and his wife Rhonda on Friday. We laughed and smiled and talked about music, guitars and the importance of him not dropping the D note on his Fender.

Our condolences go to Tony’s family at this sad time. While it’s not possible to also thank everyone who helped to make Tony’s life as enjoyable as possible in recent months a big thank you to Craig Woodward who selflessly loaned a guitar to Tony so he could enjoy time in rehab strumming away.

Special mention also to Terry DanielWayne Mac and Joseph Christopher Thomas who kept Tony’s mind alert and active via social media and in person visits.

We’re going to miss you Tony RIP

We’ll bring you more details and fumeral arrangements as they come to hand,
