On the weekend, while out at a 40th birthday party, Triple M Sydney‘s Beau Ryan was caught off guard when a stranger asked him “what happened to Woodsy?” Let’s just say Beau jumped to the wrong conclusion.
After the question Beau initially panicked and went into ‘say nothing incriminating damage control to protect on air partner Aaron ‘Woodsy’ Woods.
Beau: “On Saturday night, I had a good friend’s 40th at the Cross. I get in there, having fun, meeting a lot of friends, and then about halfway through the night a lovely bloke walks up to me, and goes, ‘Triple M going well?’, I go, ‘Yeah, going really well! Sydney’s longest-running Breakfast show!’ (laughs).
He goes, ‘What about Woodsy?’… I said, ‘Yeah, he’s great!’, and he says, ‘But what about what happened to him? I just read it’… I went straight away into defense mode – ‘You can’t believe everything you read; he didn’t do it!’ (laughs)
I look down at my phone assuming I would have like 100 messages from people, and I had one bar of service! I race outside and get service, and no messages load so I google ‘Aaron Woods’…”
Woodsy: “I also got a text message from him!”
Beau: “… Nothing is coming up! I walk back in. Later on, I see him near the bar and I go, ‘What the hell are you talking about? Do you know something?’, and he goes, ‘Oh, no mate… I just saw the headline – Woodsy is in trouble again’… it was Tiger Woods! (laughs)”
Cat: “Oh my God!”
Phew! with that sorted they can go on being the longest running breakfast show in peace in Sydney for a little while longer.
