Concetta Caristo is leaving triple j and her breakfast role.
Drive duo Abby & Tyrone (Tyrone Pynor and Abby Butler pictured below) will take over breakfast and Concetta’s breakfast co-host Luka Muller shifts to drive with yet to be named co-host.
Abby said of the shift:
“Brb letting my 14-year-old self know her dreams have come true. She’s currently too busy calling into triple j to try and win San Cisco’s bongos from their Like A Version (true story!), but it’s safe to say she’ll be stoked.”
Tyrone added: “Girl… imma need a louder alarm.”
Concetta announced her departure this morning on air. She has co-hosted breakfast for three and a half years, crowning multiple Hottest 100 #1’s, presented copious Like A Versions, co-hosted the ARIA Awards and earlier this year was crowned Queen of the Jungle.
She said:
“As a girl known for having one million feelings in every moment, it is criminal to be asked to sum up my time at triple j in a sentence. Spending my mornings laughing and talking to so many people around the country has been a genuine privilege and joy in my life. I’m going to cherish the memories forever.”
Luka added:
“I’m so proud of everything Concetta and I got to do on Breakfast and feel so very lucky to have shared it all with someone so kind, talented, fun, and silly as Chet. Stepping into Drive is gonna be so much fun. I’m excited to meet new listeners, I’m excited for everyone to see what we’ve been cooking up, and I’m excited to turn off the 4am alarm.”
