Final episode of Passing Thoughts series one shares the voluntary assisted dying journey of Lex Marinos

Lex Marinos OAM died in September 2024 after a two decade battle with leukemia. His family shared:

“He died at home, at a moment of his choosing, surrounded by family and the sounds of Bob Dylan accompanying our vigil.”

To wrap up the first season of podcast and radio show Passing Thoughts, which has been exploring the often-uncharted territory of life’s final chapter, 2RPH is honoured to present a deeply moving interview by Jane Mundy with Lex’s wife, Anne Marinos. Their conversation offers rich insights into a well-led life of love, courage, good humour and depth of spirit.

Lex was a talented actor and director, of Australian stage and screen, who championed community arts, cultural diversity and media accessibility throughout his illustrious career.

Anne’s account of her husband’s brave and dignified departure provides an intimate window on the process of voluntary assisted dying in the close setting of home and family.

Host and producer Rob Kaldor said:

“Anne’s openness and generosity in sharing Lex’s story is extraordinary. This episode holds all the complexity of love, grief, autonomy, and legacy. It’s a privilege to present it.”

Barry Melville, 2RPH’s General Manager said:

“This is the finest example to date of what we seek to achieve in Passing Thoughts – authentic conversation, warmth, reflecting shades of joy and deep sadness. The insights are profound and the listening experience is deeply affecting. It has all the hallmarks of an award-winning audio work by any international standard.”

The final episode of Series One with Anne Marinos is available on all major podcast platforms. 2RPH is also thrilled to share that Series Two has been officially green-lighted with the support of The Wicking Trust. The new season will continue to explore the universal realities of ageing, caregiving, dying, and grief, told through diverse voices, expert insights, and heartfelt stories that resonate across communities.
