Secrets We Keep podcast nominated for AIDC award

The SCA and LiSTNR podcast Secrets We Keep: Shame, Lies and Family has been nominated for an Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) award in Best Audio Documentary category.

The podcast is hosted by journalist Amelia Oberhardt who discovered at her mum’s wake a photo of her mother as a teenager, wearing a wedding ring, standing beside her apparent husband and cuddling an unknown baby.

Trying to find out more, Oberhardt’s journey led to more hidden secrets of 1950-1970s, delving into hidden pregnancies, shotgun marriages, forced adoptions, the challenges of young women in that time faced with impossible situations and the secrets they leave their families decades later.

The podcast is not designed in a convention fashion as you discover the story behind the photo in the first episode. The following in this nine part docuseries is tremendously affecting which Jen Seyderhelm and Bray Boland discussed with Oberhardt last year.

LiSTNR has created a second series called Secrets We Keep: Nest of Traitors, also available now.
