Bob Rogers celebrates his 97th birthday

Bob Rogers OAM celebrates his 97th birthday this Sunday the 3rd December, and enjoyed a pre-birthday morning tea at his home this week with a small group of friends.

Not one to detract from Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O‘s radio success and new deal with ARN, Rogers reminded Sandilands after he said“Fans of the show will be stoked to hear that this 10-year deal is the longest radio deal in Australian history”, that is not quite correct, in that it is not historically the longest.

Rogers also signed a ten-year contract with 2CH in 1997, and ultimately went on to continue presenting his weekday morning show and Saturday night Reminiscing program with the station for a further 23 years afterwards, until the station was sold in 2020 and Rogers retired.

With the similarly legendary John Laws marking 70 years in radio this week too, Bob Rogers’ retirement in 2020 was the conclusion of an extraordinary 78 year on air career.
