Ratings survey 4 results 2025: Gold top in Melbourne, beats 3AW, Smooth tops Sydney, beats 2GB

The results of radio ratings survey 4 have been released.

  • Gold 104.3 the #1 station overall in Melbourne. This is its first time at the top of the ratings since 1992. 3AW’s Ross and Russ still No 1 on breakfast. Nova 100’s Jase and Lauren No 1 FM breakfast. Improvement for Kyle and Jackie O in the city.
  • Smooth jumps to No 1 overall in Sydney too. Ben Fordham still No 1 in breakfast. Kyle and Jackie O the biggest improvers alongside ABC News Radio off the back of mushroom trial coverage. 
  • Triple M still No 1 in Brisbane. BBQ Bob up to a 10% audience share on 4BH
  • Mix 102.3 retains top spot in Adelaide. Roo, Ditts and Loz on 5MMM increase their lead on breakfast.
  • 96FM still No 1 in Perth. Big drop for the Nova team of Nathan, Nat and Shaun. Triple M’s breakfast team of Xav and Katie up from 4th to second.
  • Cumes: Nova 100 the most listened to station in the country. Jase and Lauren No 1 for breakfast too
  • Positives in Sydney and Melbourne for Kyle and Jackie O
  • CADA still top of DAB+ listening in Syd. Big growth for iHeart Australia in Melbourne. Nova Jamz debuts in Adelaide, Nova Fresh Country in Brisbane and Forever Classic 70s in Perth.

The survey was conducted by GfK for Commercial Radio Australia between Sun Apr 27 to Sat Jul 5, 2025.

Commercial Radio audiences now reach 12.5 million weekly listeners, up 111,000 year-on-year (YOY). In-car listening continues its growth momentum, up 191,000 YOY to 10.4 million weekly listeners, reaching 83% of radio’s total weekly audience.

Time spent listening (TSL) sees audiences tuning in for an average of 11 hours 49 minutes weekly, with workplace listening leading the way at 12 hours 41 minutes per week. Commercial radio streaming audience remains strong at 3.3 million weekly:

10–24s increased TSL to 3h 17m

25–54s represent 1.6 million streaming listeners, with TSL averaging 3h22m weekly

Streaming outside of home/car/work rose by 25,000 listeners to 795,000
