Smooth, sport and 90s star in GfK Radio 360 DAB+ survey results

DAB+ results in GfK Radio 360 Survey 3 showed some interesting state specific results with Smooth around the top in all markets. All states showed increased digital and internet consumption, except Adelaide, down 13K and Perth also down a significant 36,000 listeners.

In Sydney, smooth relax and KIIS 90s are on top, both growing their audience by around 20 points. CADA dropped behind them, seeing losses in a target demographic of 18-24 year olds, but up in people aged 10-17. Also up were ABC KIDS LISTEN (up 11 to 43) and ABC Sport (up 9 to 64).  You can tell it’s AFL and Rugby League season as sports stations saw growth in almost all markets, but not for SEN.

In Melbourne, ABC Sport and SEN were both up, with smooth relax up 27 points to lead the DAB+ pack. GOLD 80s and KIIS 90s both saw drops in their audience with the surprise packet TikTok Trending up 22 points to be second most listened to across all demographics.

Brisbane was more evenly split. Smooth dropped slightly, with Nova 90s top and KIIS 90s and R&B Fridays both up and close behind. MMM Classic Rock and MMM Tradie Radio (which MMM 90s rebranded to in February) both dropped with the rebrand dropping in all markets this survey.

Little change for Adelaide, with smooth fm Adelaide remaining on top and Tradie Radio seeing the most significant downturn.

Perth results demonstrated the downturn in listeners of digital radio with many stations dropping. Smooth fm Perth again was the clear leader. Perth also embraced country music, with MMM Country and KIX Digital both up, whereas sport listening was down.
