The Slovenian community unite for new radio show on 2GLF

After SBS Slovenian was decommissioned last year, the Australian Slovenian community took it into their own hands to find a new radio home.

Representatives of Slovenian organisations in Sydney came together to find a local station that could provide news and music, live and online, from Slovenia and to immigrants who now call Australia home, choosing 89.3 2GLF.

On Saturday 24 February 2024, editor Tania Smrdel (pictured), formerly a journalist on SBS’s Slovenian program, commenced a one-hour show on the Liverpool community station. It will increase to two hours a week in April. It is partly spoken in Slovenian and partly in English with plenty of Slovenian music featured.

The next step is to move the show into Melbourne, on 3ZZZ hopefully in March, at 7am on Sundays. That show will be presented by Katarina Van Der Linden and Lenti Lenko, both previously also from the SBS.
