Former ABC presenter Russ Tyson has died.

The talented TV host and radio announcer presented the ABC Breakfast show and the Hospital Half Hour in Brisbane for 18 years between 1948 and 1966, before moving on to 4KQ. He returned to ABC in 1999.

He was 94.

Tyson is survived by his wife Joy and their children and grandchildren.

The announcement was made on 612 ABC Brisbane this morning by breakfast host Spencer Howson.
