This month we are celebrating 30 years of radioinfo.
Who would have thought that it would also bring the highest readership in the history of this publication. We had over 200,000 unique readers across the week, with a peak of 92,000 of them hitting our server in the few minutes around 9:30am last Thursday to read about the ratings results.
It is more than double the amount of readers we usually get per week. So much so that we had to put a ‘challenge’ on the site to slow down the amount of traffic hitting the site in that half hour.
The main picture above shows the peak traffic spike once traffic slowed at about 10am on ratings day, and also two other days earlier in the week when our traffic was up, thanks to our coverage of Kyle & Jackie O and KIIS. The picture below shows the peak of our ratings day traffic.

Our top 5 readership segments are: radio presenters & producers, general management, advertising agencies, technical readers and podcasters.

We have been covering radio since 1996, and have adapted and expanded as the industry has changed over the past 3 decades. Now we cover audio technology, radio, podcasting, production, consumer audio consumption trends and audio equipment, not just in Australia, but also across the world.
And the news just doesn’t stop coming. Today Kyle launched legal action against ARN and Nine Radio got a new name. Our readership is booming!
Looking back into our archives, we mentioned a young Phil and Jackie O’Neil‘s move to Sydney in 1996, when their Hot 40 Countdown show went national and when a new guy named Kyle joined the show in 2000 after Phil left and moved to Kiss 100 in Britain.
We have been there for the Kyle and Jackie journey all through their careers:
- When Kyle was evicted from the Big Brother house
- When Kyle and Jackie were nominated for their first big radio awards
- When the pair decided to break a broadcasting record and when Kyle won a previous court case or hosted the ACRAs
- In 2003 when Kyle and Jackie moved to 2Day FM Drive and when Nova tried to poach them in 2004

- and when Kyle told radioinfo, even back in 2006, about his ambitions for a national breakfast show, on the Austereo network.
We covered the contract negotiation and speculation then the reality of K&J leaving 2Day FM, without their Facebook page.
Then the leaks and finally the launch of K&J on KIIS. We were at the North Ryde headquarters of ARN on launch morning.
