Mix 104.9’s autographed Top End Guitar auction raising money for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation

In 2022 Mix 104.9 in Darwin started a relationship with the Humpty Dumpty Foundation which provides essential medical equipment for 88% of all public hospitals and health services across the Northern Territory. The NT has an infant mortality rate 3 times higher than the Australian average with Humpty Dumpty so far raising more than $7.5 million towards the cause.

12 months ago, ahead of the Great Humpty Ball in Darwin, the organisation’s major fundraising event, the Mix 104.9 Team had an idea.

What if they could get as many signatures as possible of Aussie Artists that travelled to the top end in that year on a guitar, and then put it up for auction?

Great idea! Now for a guitar.

When Mix interviewed Troy Cassar-Daley for the upcoming (at the time) Red Hot Summer Tour, alongside Missy Higgins, Bernard Fanning, Ian Moss, he was asked if he had a spare guitar he might be willing to donate. When told about the Foundation, Cassar-Daley happily offered a Takamine guitar with a couple of tour mates popping their autographs on alongside Troy’s.

And the signatures kept coming from there including Paul Kelly, Higgins, Fanning, Moss, James Reyne, Ella Hooper, Rogue Traders, Shannon Noll, Kate Ceberano, Jessica Mauboy and, when Leisha Brodyk joined Daniel Hilliard on breakfast in February she got Casey Barnes (pictured below).
Hilliard has worked out the the names above, and more, who have signed have between them over 410 ARIA nominations and nearly 110 wins. Richard Wilkins, Sandra Sully, Ray Martin and Humpty’s Patron Johanna Griggs also signed up to make the Top End Guitar a true piece of Australian Music History.

The guitar is now up for auction nationwide via the QR Code or the Foundation via this link: https://app.galabid.com/darwinball2024/items/e6f46255-72c9-4059-909a-9e158a2843b3
Bids close on the day of the Ball, Saturday June 22.
